Windshield Repair
In the Glassfit® store network, the repair of the front glass can be done immediately, reliably and at a low cost.
The front windshield is a key part of a vehicle’s passive safety, since it provides up to 30% of its structural strength. Even a small crack in the windshield glass means reduced safety for the driver and passengers, as it may obstruct
the driver’s visibility or distract him while driving.

Why is the repair needed?
At any moment a small crack may develop into a larger one, with unpredictable consequences. Moreover, if we consider that the windshield helps to create better environmental conditions inside the vehicle and that, more specifically,
the front windshield provides support for the airbags should they deploy, we understand that it needs to be of the right strength and without damage. Additionally, a vehicle with a broken glass is likely to fail the annual KTEO inspection. It is therefore important to treat any crystal breakages immediately.
Conditions
The technicians in the Glassfit® network of stores undertake to repair the crystal if technically permitted. The size of the tear or embolism will lead them to choose repair.
The repair is only applied to laminated crystals, i.e. multilayered ones. Such crystals are only the front windshields. Simple and hardened crystals, such as the side and rear heated ones, are not amenable to repair because when broken they dissolve and fragment completely.
In order to be able to repair it, it is important where the crystal is damaged. It is forbidden for reasons of refraction, according to technical ethics, to pour resin on the upper left quarter of the crystal. That is, where the driver’s main field of vision is. Also, the breaking point must not be less than 10 cm from the edge of the crystal.
